Australian-owned cyber and spectrum security solutions business Consunet has experienced rapid growth over the past six years, with further expansion anticipated now that the information warfare solutions developer has joined Capability Plus.

Incorporated in 2002, Consunet has built a reputation of trusted and sustainable cyber and spectrum security solutions. The company designs, develops, integrates, and sustains in-service operational capabilities for Australia’s defence and intelligence communities.

In 2015, Consunet began delivering electronic warfare capabilities for fast jets. Three years later, the company won the Trusted Autonomous Systems Defence Cooperative Research Centre project to create Distributed aUtonomous Spectrum managemenT (DUST) technology, which uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to manage the electromagnetic spectrum in congested and complex environments. Consunet experienced further growth in 2022 through a contract to deliver an electromagnetic battle management program.

According to Consunet Chief Executive Officer Kuba Kabacinski, winning the research centre project provided confidence for continued investment. Since 2018, the company’s workforce has grown from 26 to more than 130 specialised employees.

“Our aim is to build the Australian cyber and spectrum security future and become the nation’s leading information warfare solutions developer,” Kabacinski said.

“By engaging in the Capability Plus program, we are given access to Raytheon Australia’s industry partners and supply chain to drive international export of Australian technology.”

Consunet is headquartered in Adelaide with further operations in Edinburgh, Canberra and Brisbane.

Kabacinski said the company’s journey has just begun “We hope the Capability Plus program will accelerate our enterprise maturation, as we continue to grow in domains that are profoundly important for Australia's national security”.
