Australian-owned cyber-technology company, Penten, delivers sovereign defence and security technologies designed to protect Australia’s national security.  Penten offers unique capabilities, providing highly credible emulations of combat radio, computer data and computer network activity, enhancing battlefield survivability, active cyber defence operations and cybersecurity training.

Headquartered in Canberra, the multi-award-winning company was founded in 2014 by Matthew Wilson, John Hendry, Ben Whitham and Merik Karman, now led by Greg Barsby as Chief Executive Officer.

One of the larger small and medium enterprises to join Capability Plus, Penten has more than 130 employees with skill sets spanning cyber security, software engineering, signals intelligence, data science, cryptography, network engineering, post-quantum research and bespoke development and manufacturing.

Executive Chair Matthew Wilson, said Penten’s mission is to deliver new defence and security technologies for the future, while securing and protecting the most classified information.

“We are trusted by governments in Australia and offshore to deliver security technologies to detect and defend against a wide variety of sophisticated cyber threats,” said Wilson. “To deliver this mission, we invent, prototype, deliver and support our own proprietary technologies in the fields of secure mobility and applied artificial intelligence.”
Wilson said Penten works with some of the most talented cyber security professionals in Australia and the world and is dedicated to solving some of the hardest cyber problems facing the nation.

“We are honoured to join Raytheon Australia’s Capability Plus program,” said Wilson.

“The collaboration signifies a shared commitment to excellence in cyber and artificial intelligence know-how, where Penten’s unique expertise complements Raytheon Australia’s world leading capabilities.

“Together, we aim to enhance defence capabilities and contribute significantly to the evolving landscape of cyber security.”

In June 2023, Penten received the Endpoint Security Provider of the Year Award at the inaugural Australian Cyber Security Awards. In 2021, 2020 and 2019, the company was awarded Cyber Business of the Year at the Australian Defence Industry Awards, and in 2018, Penten was awarded Telstra Australian Business of the Year.’
