Australian-owned business Solinnov provides electronic warfare, or EW, communications and signal processing for the Australian government and defence sector.
Founded in 2010 by current CEO Sanka Piyaratna, “Solinnov” is a portmanteau for “solutions” and “innovation.”
“We deliver innovative electronic warfare and communications capabilities that support the EW suites on the Hobart-class Air Warfare Destroyers, the Anzac class frigates and the Collins-class Submarine Periscope Antenna Unit,” said Piyaratna.
“By providing flexible solutions to tackle evolving threats within the electromagnetic spectrum, we are enabling capabilities on military hardware to be developed, enhanced and implemented overnight.”
Solinnov has developed the “Pacific SDR architecture” – an open architecture, software-defined radio framework – allowing for additional mission specific applications to be developed and implemented rapidly on the frontline.
Based in Adelaide and with a growing engineering office in Melbourne, Solinnov has 28 employees.
According to Solinnov General Manager Peter Jackson, participating in Raytheon Australia’s Capability Plus program provides the company a great opportunity for growth.
“Talent acquisition remains one of our key focus areas, and thanks to Raytheon Australia’s support through Capability Plus, we have access to valuable mentoring and training resources,” said Jackson.
“Upskilling personnel is essential to an expanding company like Solinnov, improving our capabilities and certifying the next generation of Australia’s defence industry.”
Piyaratna said Solinnov “is a believer in investing in its people”.
“Training our employees and ensuring the workforce grows with the company will ensure Solinnov continues to deliver on its promises of innovation in the electronic warfare sector,” he said.
“At Solinnov, we believe the solutions to tomorrow’s problems require constant innovation.”
