Raytheon Australia delivers new capability to enable long-range missile trials
New sovereign system to provide critical testing capability for the Royal Australian Air Force
WOOMERA, South Australia (21 April 2026) – Raytheon Australia, part of RTX’s (NYSE: RTX) Raytheon business, successfully designed and delivered a new sovereign long-range testing and tracking capability to support Australian Defence Force missile trials.
The Long-Range Deployable Telemetry Monitoring and Flight Termination Systems are mobile range-safety solutions providing real-time tracking, data collection and secure flight termination for missiles during testing. They are critical for ensuring safe, controlled test operations while enabling long-range flexible trials in remote environments.
“Reliable testing underpins operational readiness, especially as systems become more advanced and missions extend farther than ever before,” said Ohad Katz, managing director of Raytheon Australia. “This new system showcases Raytheon Australia’s ability to quickly design, develop and deliver advanced solutions for its customers, and builds on the capability we have been providing since 2020.”
The system was delivered in 30 months from contract signature and was one of the first systems delivered under the new streamlined procurement acquisition process from the Australian Department of Defence’s Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group.
