Acting Chief of Requirements & Capabilities

Andrew Vlass is the Acting Chief of Requirements and Capabilities with responsibility for business growth, opportunity development and capture, and enterprise strategic relationships.

In this role, Andrew leads the growth of the company through defining and implementing the corporate strategy, understanding customer expectations and requirements, managing competitive and customer relationships, and determining new business investment priorities to achieve growth targets.

Andrew’s previous roles include General Manager of Raytheon Australia’s Above Water Systems product line, Director of the Weapons product line, Director Supply Chain, Strategy Executive and Program Director across several key programs in the Raytheon Australia business. 

Andrew performed several roles in the Air Warfare Destroyer Program, supporting the design, build, certification and delivery of the Hobart Class Destroyers to the Royal Australian Navy. 

Before joining Raytheon Australia, Andrew held positions across project management, systems engineering, electronic engineering and electronic warfare systems design and testing, working for Tenix Defence and with BAE Systems and the Defence Science and Technology Group. 

Andrew is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Fellow with Engineers Australia and a Certified Practicing Portfolio Executive with the Australian Institute of Project Management. He also has a Certificate in Executive Management and Development with the Australian Graduate School of Management. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) with first class honours and is a graduate of the UNSW Business School General Manager Program, an Industry Leaders Fund grant recipient, and a Defence Industry Leadership Program graduate.
