
Paul Hales
General Manager, Space & Mission Systems
Paul Hales is the General Manager for Raytheon Australia’s Space & Mission Systems product line. In this role, Paul is responsible for growth across a broad portfolio of programs inclusive of Air Combat Enablers, Space Surveillance, Asset Management, and Mission Support.
Prior to his current role, Paul was Director, Joint Battlespace Systems, responsible for the execution of the portfolio of Raytheon Australia programs supporting the Joint environment.
With a 25-year career in Defence, Paul has held a number of program and engineering roles, such as Land 19 Program Director, responsible for executing Raytheon Australia’s position as Prime System Integrator, delivering an enhanced NASAMS solution to Army.
Prior to Land 19, Paul was the Submarine Program Manager, responsible for the execution of major acquisition programs within the Submarine product line. Paul commenced with Raytheon Australia as a systems engineer on the Collins In-Service Support program and Collins Replacement Combat System program, before spending seven years on the Air Warfare Destroyer program in several management roles.
Paul began his career as an electronics engineer at the CSIRO Australia Telescope National Facility, developing high frequency correlators and digital time reference systems.
Paul is a Certified Practicing Portfolio Executive with the Australia Institute of Project Managers, and has a First Class Honors Degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Technology and a Masters Degree in Technology Project Management from La Trobe University.
