Invested in growing Australia's defence industry talent pipeline

Raytheon Australia awards a series of STEM scholarships to Australian students

The recipients represent a broad group of Australia’s future science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, professionals who are embarking on studies that will have a significant impact on their career pathway.

As a sponsor of the Australian Youth Aerospace Association since 2019, Raytheon Australia aims to recognise exceptional students by offering scholarships to support their future studies.

The 2022 scholarships were awarded to bright Australia students across various states, including year 12 student Ishita Gupta from New South Wales.

“When I look up at the night sky and wonder in awe, I realise that my journey to those stars and helping others reach them as an aerospace engineer is becoming more feasible.” said Gupta.

Being awarded the scholarship is a helpful contribution towards the cost of her studies.

“Part of my studies include subjects such as extension 2 maths, chemistry, physics, and investigation science, and my interest in aerospace continues to grow as I increase my knowledge in these STEM subjects,” said Gupta.

“I intend on using the funding from this scholarship to support my future undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies in aerospace engineering.”

Raytheon Australia Managing Director Michael Ward congratulated the latest cohort of scholarship recipients and reinforced the company’s focus on building the future talent pool for the defence industry.

“At Raytheon Australia, we are invested in creating education and job opportunities for a diverse population of Australia’s youth in the communities where we live and work,” Ward said.

Raytheon Australia continues to partner with the AYAA, a not-for-profit organisation managed by student volunteers and young professionals, with the objective of promoting education, awareness and involvement in the aerospace industry to people across Australia.
