Raytheon Australia makes multi-million-dollar investment in submarine combat system centre of excellence
Investment to support Royal Australian Navy’s transition to a multi-class submarine force
HENDERSON, Western Australia (20 November 2025) – Raytheon Australia, part of RTX’s (NYSE: RTX) Raytheon business, made a multi-million-dollar investment to upgrade its submarine combat system centre of excellence to support Australia’s Submarine Force.
Raytheon Australia has supported the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Collins Class submarines from Western Australia for more than 25 years. The newly upgraded site is an investment in enhancing the company’s existing capability to continue in its role as Australia’s sovereign submarine combat system manager for the Collins Class submarines and to establish the foundation to extend this capability in support of future requirements as the RAN transitions to a multi-class fleet.
The investment includes workspace modernisation to enhance flexibility and collaboration, improved customer support facilities, and virtual collaboration spaces to facilitate easier engagement with industry partners and customers.
“This significant upgrade demonstrates our commitment to investing in the capability and capacity of our workforce as Australia’s sovereign submarine combat system manager,” said Ohad Katz, managing director of Raytheon Australia. “This newly upgraded site will provide our 150-member submarine combat system team with a facility designed to enhance collaboration with the RAN and our industry partners.”
Members of Raytheon Australia’s submarine combat system team have supported the Collins Class submarines since their introduction in the mid-1990s. The company has invested for decades in a workforce pipeline that is ready to scale to help the RAN transition to a multi-class submarine fleet. The team operates mainly from Perth’s Henderson Shipyard and HMAS Stirling.
